Scarlet Pimpernel

I’m writing this piece during Holy Week when the vestments of our pastors in the Church will change from violet to “scarlet”. Bright orange-red and triumphant to commemorate the Risen Christ and the victory of good over evil.

The victory over evil is a long and tortuous journey blocked by the scent of blood-money which as in the case of Lady Macbeth will not easily wash away despite using all the perfumes of Arabia or even Russia and Israel. (more…)

On other days you bring your steno’s pad
And your half silence, half a girlish smile.
Today you brought a wound you never had
And took dictation standing half a mile.
Yes, wounds to me are quite familiar things
I too have seen too many people die
Jammed in cockpits shorn of youthful wings

Question of the day

I don’t watch a great deal of television except when I like to spend a couple of hours after dinner being entertained.

Since I’m using Tata Sky I have more choices in selecting channels than the time when we were using the local cablewalla.

I now have a choice of selecting from innumerable programmes under the heads of entertainment, movies, sports, news and others. Unfortunately I cannot get the EWTN, God and Miracle Net channels.

After several months of using Tata Sky I have realized that most of the “entertainment” is available, not on the Entertainment channels, but the News channels. (more…)
